It certainly was an exciting match. I haven't seen Stanford play at all this year, but I think it's fair to say they've played better than that. I'm sure the large raucous crowd had something to do with their results.
The Pac-10 placed 3 of the 4 teams in the Final Four and from what I've seen, they clearly play better defense than any other conference in the country. Almost every long rally went Stanford's way in last night's game. At least in the semi, Nebraska was almost the equal of UCLA. The difference in last night's game was the big arm of Sarah Pavan and the surprisingly effective hitting of Jordan Larson. Did she win the MVP from the match?
I'd also like to compliment Holloway on her effort. She clearly struggled and wasn't nearly as effective as the semi, but she kept hanging tough and made the critical sets. If she had a better night, the middles would have been much more effective and it probably would not have been as nail biting. She's just going to get so much better after her freshman campaign. If the coach can find an acceptable replacement for the libero, next year's team should be almost unstoppable. Congratulations to the team on a wire to wire #1 finish!

Mr. Hesse understates. It was an exciting match and I wasn't convinced NU
would win until the final point in each of the last three matches and I'm
generally pretty optimistic.
