First, Rodriguez is a WV native who played at WVU. 

Second, the deal at Bama was for around $2 million per with incentives
that could have reached another $500k per. 

>From what I understand WVU is giving Rodriguez a substantial raise
(thanks to some WVU boosters that stepped in at the 11th hour and
convinced him to stay) but that his total comp package would still top
out at around $2 million per with incentives...a potential difference of
about $500k.
