But the NFL takes 12 teams out of 32. College would only take 4 or 8 out of 117. That would still make the regular season mean more in college then the NFL. You couldn't go .500 and still make the playoffs. You probably couldn't even lose 2 games most years. 3 and you would be done for sure. Might have changed the Huskers at OSU this year.

That is interesting, but I think it overlooks the fact that the 
excitment of the NFL playoffs comes somewhat at the expense of 
regular season game excitement.
