That's easy: Our formidable run defense forced teams to throw more than 
they normally did, so their receivers naturally had big games.

That's somewhat tongue in cheek, but I think there's a grain of truth to 
it. NU's run defense was not the best in the country, but it was usually 
pretty good, and I think some teams (OU comes immediately to mind) threw 
more against us than they did normally.
