[Husker] Three new threads

On the Bill Callahan show last night, Callahan repeatedly took blame
for the game, particularly play calling, e.g., that led to
interceptions etc. I assume that is in part a reaction to criticism
about the coaches blaming the players for execution rather than
taking responsibility. Personally, I don't think that play calling
was a notable problem (outside of the play on the opening kickoff).
For example, the completion to Purify to open the game seemed like
a fine call, but unfortunately Purify was stripped of the ball and
OU scored an easy touchdown to set the Huskers back on their heels.
Similarly, although Taylor did not have his best game, I don't think
it is fair to place the loss solely on his play. For example, the
pass to Purify was thrown well and completed. I think that some
days the turnovers and big plays don't go your way and the mistakes
and breaks result in a loss. NU out-rushed, out-passed (in yards),
and out-yarded OU, but a few key plays went OU's way. Some days
that's how it happens. I thought NU played a pretty good game and
take away Purify's fumble, OU's long pass, and substitute a couple
of similar breaks for the Huskers, then the result goes the other way.
Before the game, I thought OU would be the better team, but I came
away thinking that NU might have been the better team despite the
outcome.

Auburn might not be much of a favorite over NU. Sagarin has Auburn
with a predictor of 82.22 (#24) and NU with a predictor of 82.65
(#20). (Some other computers have Auburn much stronger.) The early
line opened with Auburn by 3, but the early line is now even.

Texas backup QB Jevan Snead has announced that he will leave Texas.

Snead was one of Texas' most highly touted recruits and was recruited
by and made an oral commitment to Florida. Although he was beaten
out by Colt McCoy (who played lights out as a freshman, pun noted),
Snead presumably is a very talented prospect. So, I suppose Callahan
might have an interest. Snead will have to sit out next year, similar
to Keller this year, but would have three more years to play. There
are no rumored desitnations for Snead, but NU might make sense.
