>>It didn't seem to me that the offensive line was THAT bad in this game --
of course I was impatiently fast forwarding through a lot of the game after
having to use my TiVo in light of a company VP's Christmas party -- but that
s another story...
I guess it is how you define "that bad". No, they didn't smell up the
joint but they didn't exactly do stellar work either.
>>Anyway, the line didn't cause all of those turnovers. I thought they
actually did a decent job of giving Taylor a chance to throw. He ended up
throwing 50 times, and only went down three (compared to NINE last year).
The interceptions were huge. And I've also read here and on the Huslerpedia
boards (mostly those boards) pretty harsh criticism of the corners.
I am not saying EVERYTHING that happened was the fault of the offensive
line. Taylor only went down three times but how many times did he have an OU
player in his face?
>>While I will be the first to admit they aren't up to the level of many we
ve had in the past, I don't see any way this loss can be blamed at all on
the defense. I have never been a Kevin Cosgrove fan, but the defense played
their hearts out, and kept us in the game. Could you believe the field
position, particularly in the second half??? And the Huskers could do
NOTHING with it!!! Did the better team win? Maybe, but I don't think the gap
was that big. Oh for the days of Oklahoma playing the wishbone, where you
could count on at least four or five fumbles per game! They had ZERO last
night. One INT. That, to me, was a HUGE factor in the game.
One thing I noticed is they sure went after Grixby a lot. Anyway, I don
t want to be all negative. I believe this team has come a tremendous
distance in three years. To come from 5-6 and no bowl two years ago to 9-4,
second in the Big 12, and a Cotton Bowl appearance is really nothing short
of a big time accomplishment. While I am disappointed in this game and not
going to the Fiesta Bowl, I am extremely happy with the direction of the
team.

I have never learned anything when I was the one doing the talking.
