Sounds like it wasn’t pretty, either.
Charles Richardson got a big steal and hoop to put the Huskers up 73-69 at
the 1:06 mark. Shoulda' finished it off. Aleks Maric then fouled out with
less than a minute to play as Rutgers pulled to within 73-72.
Freshman Ryan Anderson got stripped of the ball on the next possession and
Rutgers converted following an offensive rebound against the Maric-less
Huskers. NU then called timeout for the final possession, and never got a good
look (Anderson forced one up; Doc thought he got mugged, according to Pavelka).
Nebraska finished 6 for 14 from the foul line. Back-and-forth game the
entire second half. Jamel White is off to a slow start this year. Maric
finished with 20 points, only 3 rebounds. Anderson had 17. Rutgers shot 64 percent
from the floor!
Disappointing. Four-point lead with 1:06 to play and we couldn’t hang on.
Doc Sadler's first loss at Nebraska drops the Huskers to 5 and 1 on the
season.
