[Husker] Think About This

The Florida State - Miami series had a pretty good run with seven
straight meetings between 1987 and 1993 where both teams were in the
AP Top 10 at the time of the game. They had another three-year run
from 2002-2004, though neither team finished in the Top 10 in 2004.
The 1996 and 2000 meetings were the only other Top 10 match-ups for
those teams.

Bob mentioned the Michigan-Ohio State series. During the "Ten Year
War" from 1968-1977, both teams were ranked in the AP Top 10 at game
time eight times, skipping only the 1969 and 1971 games. The
following ten years saw only three such match-ups (1980, 1983 and 1986).

I can think of a quite a few candidate series that were big over the
course of a decade or so (Army-Notre Dame, Oklahoma-Texas, Alabama-
Auburn, Alabama-Tennessee, Notre Dame-Miami, etc.), but none that
matched the sustained excellence and longevity of that stretch of the
Big Red rivalry.
