I read this in one of the papers today. He's not making the trip. Stress
fracture in the foot. He was fresh off of a knee scope as it was.
Center Aleks Maric is operating with stress fractures in the hip.
Marcus Perry is, I think, potentially a great three-point shooter. Last
year, he made just enough that you could see his potential and ultimate value to
the team, but he didn't just go off on anyone either. Had some of his
better games late and shot well in the back-to-back wins in the BIG XII tourney,
if I recall correctly. He's not a great ball-handler, doesn't create his own
shot a lot, and he doesn't go to the hole very often. But he's got a great
release on his shot, and he's going to get better shots in Sadler's system.
Marcus has a "shooters mentality" too ... never met a jumper he didn't like.
Get healthy and keep firin' it, Marc.
This team isn't deep and can't afford any long-term injuries. Maric,
Richardson, Jamel White, Perry and now, freshman Ryan Anderson, are going to have
to log some serious minutes. You won't see eight or nine players getting
between 11 and 22 minutes like you did with Collier. At least not this year.
The coach is running these guys to death because they have to be in way better
shape than ever before to play Doc's way. And they WILL play Doc's way.
Even without Perry, I've seen enough to be pretty confident that the five
Sadler does put out on the floor will be bustin' it for all it's worth. Perry
will be missed, however.
Here's another option for the NU-Scarlet Knights hoops broadcast at 3 p.m.
tomorrow, for those who are so inclined:

Here's to hoping that tomorrow's a great day in the hearts of Husker
football, basketball and volleyball fans. Cheers.
