Obviously there's a similarity but you're VASTLY over simplifying it.
Beck = unproven guy who didn't practice at all during spring and came
out low on the depth chart and he wasn't going to start this year
anyway.
Keller = Proven guy against the best talent in the country, was NAMED
the starter by his head coach who reversed his decision a few days
later. Midway through the season, this guy was on a few heisman watch
lists! BIGTIME difference. Kellar had actually won the job, and his
coach, in one of the seemingly more immature moves I've ever seen a
coach do, let a small group of players decide who would be the
starting quarterback.
I honestly don't know how the ASU coach can garner any respect from
his players now. Can you imagine Osborne changing his starter that he
JUST named a few days ago a week or two before football starts?
I could see him changing his mind after a few games, but before
they've even played a snap? Especially just because a few players
told him to!
There is a little bit in common with Beck, a VERY little.
