Jon,

Don't focus on the 1 year of eligibilty that he has remaining. Focus on
the fact that we need a QB for next season and he is the guy. He put up
great numbers against tough competition before getting hurt last year in
an offense that is very similar to ours. He will have a whole season to
sit and learn the offense and then be the starter next season. Without
him next year would have been BAD with either Ganz or Davis starting, or
the JUCO kid who just came in that is supposed to be pretty good as
well. 

Essentially those 2 guys coming to campus gives us a good starter for
next year (Keller) and a good starter (hopefully) for the year after
(JUCO kid). That buys us some precious time so we can recruit a couple
of kids and get them ready to play in their RS soph / Jr season. Beck
leaving and Freeman never showing up had left the QB cupboard pretty
bare. 

So in my book there is a HUGE upside to having him on campus even if he
does only start for 1 season - in fact it is probably a blessing!
