My guess is that players come and go under these circumstances at most of the top tier Division 1 programs, but as someone said earlier Beck and Jackson were high level picks and everyone knew about them so there was a little more publicity surrounding their departures. Also, I don't know for sure, but suspect most of these guys want to play and probably can somewhere else and so if Callahan gives them an honest evaluation that allows them to take a shot and then move on if they don't make it, that isn't so bad for the player. I doubt good players want to sit around 4 years and do nothing just to be at Nebraska or anywhere else for that matter, particularly if they are are not local players. As for business, it really isn't any different than guys coming out early for the NFL rather than finishing a 4 or 5 year program. It looks to me as if Callahan runs a pretty good operation overall, it just took him awhile to put things in place. Now we will have to wait and see if they can win or not. One thing I will say watching the games last year is that they never quit and that is nice to see.
