Hello Husker Fans,

The Huskers pick up wins 11th and 12th in a row with a 4-2 and 15-2
wins respectively over in state teams Creighton and UNK. In both
games the pitching was excellent, something we've needed to see
  pretty badly.

In the CU game, Charlie Shirek really shined as he pitched 7.2
innings scattered 9 hits and struck out 3. Most importantly, he
walked 1 and hit 2 batters, which is not great, but an improvement.
Erik Bird came in and pitched a perfect 1.1 innings to pickup the
  save.

CU actually outhit NU 9-6, but NU was opportunistic and got hits at
just the right time. Gorsett hit a two run double in the first and
the Huskers cruised. In the 7th, Nimmo added his third homer of
the year. CU picked up 2 in the 8th, but that would be all as the
Huskers pick up the series win for the year.

In Wednesday's game, with a lineup of mostly second stringers, NU
broke out the whopping stick and pounded out 19 hits for 15 runs to
  just demolish UNK.

Almost more importantly was the pitching. The struggling 'mid-week'
pitching was on their game today as 6 Husker pitchers combined for a
4 hitter (Klausing, Radmacher, Cranston, Schwab, Jennings, and
Harmelink). With the exception of Jennings, all the Huskers pitchers
were near perfect, none giving up more than 1 hit. What's even more
exciting is ONLY 2 WALKS and NO HIT BATTERS. Control had been
probably the biggest problem with the midweek pitchers. It was nice
to see someone other than the weekend rotation throw strikes.

  Additional Notes
  ================

  - Christy is batting .400 since switching to the #2 spot in the
  lineup

  - Klausing really seems to be making a case for the 5th starter spot

  - This weekend series mimics last years with Texas. We entered the
last years series (in Lincoln) 29-4 vs 30-5 this year. UT won the
series 2-1. Hopefully this year will be different. In addition, I
don't think UT is as good this year, although they are definitley
  not bad.

The first pitch is Friday at 6:15pm, followed up by Saturday at
2:00pm, and Sunday at 1:00pm. Saturay's game will be broadcast on
Fox Sports Net (47 in Omaha) and the other two will be on Pinnacle
and video will be available on Huskers.com (with subscription).
