Hello Husker Fans,

Today the Huskers completed the sweep of Missouri in Columbia with a
13-7 win. The bats certainly came alive and the pitching was good
  in spots.

The Huskers used a 8 run 6th inning to put away the Tigers, all of
which coming with 2 outs. Opitz doubled, and Christy hit him in to
bring the Huskers within 1. Mort singled and Nimmo walked to bring
up Jaros (a Missouri kid), who doubled in 2 to put the Huskers ahead
6-5. A few batters later, Wehrle doubled in 2 more for an 8-5 lead.
Buckman walked to set the table for Gorsett, who cleared the bases
with his 14th homer of the year, a towering blast over the
  scoreboard.

Johnny Dorn pitched well after a rocky start. He gave up 3 runs in
the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd, but didn't allow a run after that. On the
day, he pitched 6 innings, allowed 5 runs, walked 2, struck out 4.
Not a great performance, but he was still able to pick up the win.

Shirek came in as a reliever (Radamacher is going to start Tuesday)
gave up 2 runs in 3 innings and struck out 1.

I think it's good to mention that this is the major difference from
last year to this year. Last year, we didn't really have the
hitters to pick up a pitcher on a bad day. Now, granted, our
pitchers were ON FIRE last year and we're definately not doing bad
this year, but we don't have too many weak spots in our lineup.

The top 3 hit for great averages, then you have to try to pitch
around Buckman, Gorsett, and Brown (sometimes Gerch). Three guys
who can take the ball out of the park at any time.

Also worth mentioning. I though it was a good idea for Anderson to
use Shirek today, that gives our younger pitchers like Radamacher
who had a great performance last time out, a chance to get more work
in since we may need them later this year. I imagine we'll see 3 or
4 pitchers regardless of the score on Tuesday in Iowa City.

The Huskers next take on the Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Tuesday.
First pitch is set for 6:00pm. The game will not be on TV, but
will be on Pinnacle and on Huskers.com.

Another FYI, the video this weekend was very spotty at best. I
don't know for sure, but I bet it's because Missouri probably
doesn't have a huge bandwidth at their baseball field like NU does
(not that many people do). So the game, when it was even available
on video, was choppy and lagged behind by about 1/2 an inning, so I
didn't get to SEE as much of the game as I usually get to.
Hopefully Iowa will be better. Then we go back home for the good
  quality feed :)
