Hello Husker Fans,

jun> The thing that worries me the most right now about this team is the
jun> pitching. I haven't been able to listen to or watch more than a half
jun> dozen games, but the number of times our pitchers are getting into
jun> trouble because of walks and HBP is a concern. Currently, 4.5 free
jun> passes (maybe earned if it's HBP :] ) are being issued every 9 innings.

You're right on about the free passes. That's something I've heard
Anderson mention quite a few times. I don't know anything that drives
a coach out of his mind more than walks. There's no defense against a
walk.

Today, we beaned 4 and walked 4. Including walking the bases loaded
in the 13th that could have cost us the game.

The pitchers are throwing great, but sometimes we get ourself into
some serious trouble. Our team ERA is 2.89 before today, leading the
Big XII. Missouri was 3rd at 3.09 just behind Texas A&M at 3.06 (You
had to know it was just a matter of time before Childress had those
boys in shape).

NU is 2nd in team fielding (Mizzou is last) with a .977 percentage.
NU is tied for 3rd in team batting average with OSU at .324.

Gorsett (13) and Buckman (8) are 1st and 2nd (tied) for homer runs in
the Big XII. I couldn't find any national stats, so I don't know
where that ranks nationally.
