The pass itself wasn't illegal. I don't see 'ineligible receiver
downfield' or 'intentional grounding' on that list. As I recall, the
ball wasn't touched by anybody, so 'touched by an ineligible reciever'
would not appear to apply.
What situation would apply?
I'm curious to know if the snapped ball hitting the holder in the head and
being caught by the kicker qualifies as a fumble. It isn't a pass yet,
so it isn't a tipped pass.
Has anyone ever seen a Division 1A game stopped while the officials
consult the rulebook?
I disagree that the clock operator did anything wrong. Had time expired
I think the officials could have reviewed THAT.
