The stats I saw was that Troy had 280 yards passing and 74 yards
rushing. That adds up to considerably less than 600 yards, but they
also had 192 yards in returns. (Mizzou had 178 yards in returns, sounds
like it was a special teams kind of day.)
And with all those yards, Troy managed just 21 points. (But that's still
three times the number of points that the Huskers had yesterday.)

Officials don't cause players to line up incorrectly or miss the snap
count. I don't recall any noticeably bad calls in that game, except
the one they didn't get right even after further review, and that
wasn't a penalty.
I agree with you that 8-3 is possible but may not win the Big XII North,
and the first step on that road is beating Iowa State. BTW, has anybody
noticed that Dan McCarney is 6-5 against Iowa?
As to having better players, Nebraska is 2-5 against Kansas State in
the post-Osborne years and 4-3 against Colorado. Who's had the better
players?
