I think it is interesting that a statement like "no one big would
take the job" could apply to NU football given our level of success
the last 40 years. Nebraska, with its fan support, facilities,
university support, tradition, etc. should be a highly sought-after
coaching job. That you can actually make a statement like "no one big
would take the job" and have it ring true only points out how poorly
the Solich to Callahan situation was handled. I've had people on the
outside (Iowa fans) say things like, "yeah, who would want to go
coach there and get fired if they went 9-3). If Callahan doesn't
work out, we'll definitely have a hurdle to overcome in trying to get
a high caliber coach. That, to me, is really, really sad. And
that's exactly why I AM hoping for good things from Callahan. The
alternative is just too difficult to think about.
