[Husker] Defense

The discrepancy in the stats had a lot to do with NU's offensive ineptitude
and its high-scoring defense: defensive TDs and offensive three-and-outs
make for a lot of offensive series for the opposition. And given enough
opportunities, a decent offense will put up some numbers.
There is no question that the defense has a lot of work to do, particularly
in the secondary - those wide-open WF receivers were indeed scary (as was
the blown coverage against Maine) - but the improvement over last year is
obvious and provides a ray of hope in what has otherwise been a pretty
gloomy start to the season.
Can anyone remember a time when we were 2-0 and this pessimistic? I was with
some friends who are CU fans today, and I was thinking how glad I am that
I'll be in Arizona the week after Thanksgiving. Shame on me, but unless
things improve pretty dramatically, it looks like another long season.
