On another tangent how about those throw back helmets for the Badgers.
The last time I saw helmets like those I believe Alvarez was wearing one
of them. A friend up in Wisconsin heard that they're wearing them for
the year. I hope not as they are UGLY!

Concerning the o-line play, I was highly disappointed by their effort
and I really had problems with the right tackle whose name I won't even
bother to butcher right now but he always seemed to be doing a look out
block for Taylor and picking him up from the turf. If this isn't
corrected this could be one of the longest seasons for NU fans!

I was reading Callahan's comments about the OL play from the Maine game
and didn't find them very comforting. He indicated there were just a few
minor technique problems that were easily fixed. While that sounds
promising, it was eerie to me how similar that sounded to coach's
comments from 2-3 years ago when we couldn't run effectively all year
long. We'll see soon if this was just coach speak or the truth.

On a tangent, did anyone else notice how Alvarez threw a few of his
defensive players under the bus? He said the players totally abandoned
their training from the fall while Jacobs was lighting them up. He said
he didn't know why they even bothered showing up for practice because
they played last Saturday the same as if they hadn't even gone to fall
camp. While he never named names, the team demoted 2 starters in the
secondary.
