I agree with your post, Steve. I was not trying to judge other fans to
begin with, I was just giving MY opinion. I am not in the position to judge
anyone's loyalty...

My disagreement with Mike was not about being a fan, but that the Big Red is
dead if a "fan" is accepting of a 6-5 record. I don't recall anyone
questioning if a fan is fan if they are not accepting of a 6-5 record. I
stated a fan should be fan regardless of record. I never stated that they
are not a fan if they do not find this record acceptable.

We know that some people think 6-5 this year is acceptable and that
some people don't think it is acceptable. And, you can decide for
yourself what you level of success or lack of success you can accept.
(Surprisingly, many who were glad to see Solich fired during an
"unacceptable" 10-3 season, now find 6-5 acceptable.) However, you
cannot decide that because you find 6-5 to be acceptable and others
don't, that you are a fan but they aren't.

As to level of effort, that is only one part of acceptable. There
are many other aspects subject to examination, consideration, and
judgement. I think the level of effort this year has been pretty
good, but there are many other areas where the level this year has
been very disappointing.

One disappointment that makes me relieved is the schedule this year.
NU has a schedule devoid of top-tier opponents --- thankfully.
