Good Afternoon All:
On the subject of fundraising I read somewhere in the past week or so that the "Are You N" project has generated pledges (not actual receipts) of only about $21.4 million of the $50 million necessary to pay off the north stadium expansion project. I have not increased my annual contribution one penny more than what I have been doing for the past six years and I have no intention of doing so at this point in time or quite likely ever (especially if you ask the wife).
The situation at NU has really become a big disappointment to me (and I suspect I'm not alone in this sentiment) not only because we can't seem to pull ourselves out of the funk we're in on the football field but because it seems like the entire system down there has taken on a "what have you done for me lately" attitude when it comes to tickets and donations. At one time you could call the ticket office (if you were a donor of some substance) if you needed an extra ticket or two generally get one, now you don't dare do that as they don't look up on that with any great pleasure.
As for what NU plans to do with those 6,000 new seats, I have my ideas on that but for the time being I'm not going to publicly speculate. I think though there's going to a jolt coming to the "Husker Nation" in the not too distant future though. The Kansas State game will be the 275th (and possibly) final sellout in a string that dates to 1962.
