> Isn't this a rule to specifically to protect QB's?

According to the pre-season officiating guide on the NCAA website, the rule
is intended to protect all players, though it notes that QBs, punters and
receivers are the usual victims. It is one of the points of special
emphasis this year.

Any time a player ducks his head to make it the point of contact, there's
likely to be a flag thrown. That's probably what the officials called
on that play, and I find it difficult to argue against that call.

I find it somewhat ironic that the knock on both Osborne and Solich was
that they couldn't overcome a big deficit. This year's team has done so
twice, though they didn't win either game.

That's one of two positives I took from yesterday's game. The other was
that the Mizzou fans tore down the goalposts. If the day comes when defeating
Nebraska is no longer considered an accomplishment at schools like Missouri,
then there's a real problem.
