Bob this is something I have been struggling with quite a bit lately- I am guessing there have got to be other teams over the years that have been highly regarded despite struggles on one side of the ball- in ohter words, I find it hard to believe that all the high ranked teams are blowing people out every week in any given season. When Ohio State won it a few years back , weren't many of their games very close, even against inferior opponents? Sure, Ohio State was pretty darn good that year, but they by no means were blowing everyone out.

I guess my point is, why is it that voters penalize teams for a "struggling" offense or a "weak" defense, even if they are winning? Perhaps soon voters will also drop teams because of poor special teams play when they win by 30.

By the way, this is not a knock on your post, in fact I agree that voters behave this way, I'm just puzzled as to why.
