[Husker] Smith

As much as I hate to say anything even remotely good about the current coaches,
you cannot blame this on them (or any coaches for that matter).

This fumble was dumb bad luck. Nothing more.

As a football player you are taught to make positive yards if you can. Anyone.
I intercepted a ball on 4th down. Ended up losing 20 yards than where it would
have been if I knocked it down. But you see a ball, you take it and run.

Are there exceptions like knock a ball down on 4th down ? Sure. Would things
have turned out great if Smith had gone down, or tripped, sure. DBs and LBs
are taught to gain positive yards and hold on to the ball. Most teams do an
intercept drill, let a LB catch it and try to make him fumble. Smith is a DT,
either playing in a zone blitz or doing a really poor job of rushing the passer. :-)

Net net is that he would not have been through those type of drills.
