I was yelling "get down" also. My daughter was yelling run. He obviously
listened to my daughter.

If I read your message right Glen, I could have sworn you were in my living
room with me.

The instant Smith grabbed that ball I was screaming "Fall down!!!" Had he
done so we would have won (though there is a slight chance, given Taylor's
occasional butter fingers of a fumble during the snap). At that moment you
must choose the course of action surest to guarantee victory. It's a little
bit like Bball players diving for a loose ball and then calling time out.
That presence of mind is what separates winners from "nice tryers".

That said every player is vulnerable to occasional mental errors. I hope
the team and coaches rally round Smith so he'll play harder and smarter in
the next game.

Also wasn't it after the Tech game last year the coaches said "you have 24
hours to get over the last game played"? (something to that effect). We
knew this team wasn't likely to go 11-0. Still there's no reason they can't
go 10-1 from here on out with the right attitude and preparation.

and, how many of us, watching this incredible end to this incredible game,
seeing Smith intercept a deflected pass on his own 10 with a minute left in
the game, spilled our driniks, while jumping up and down, screaming "Fall
down! Fall down!" ? No, I didn't think so. Imagine what we was thinking -
he was on the field.
