Is it safe to say that Baylor should be a win? :-)
Considering that they came from behind to beat Iowa State by 10 today, in
Ames, in regulation, I would suggest it is definitely not safe to say that; and
I never would have thought I would ever say that about Baylor.
Today was a good day for the Huskers, despite the loss. They showed a lot
of character to come back from a 21-point hole. Playing this well against
TTech after last year's disaster should have exorcised a lot of doubts that this
team may have had about itself.
However, the only team that I saw who was worse on the road last year than
Nebraska was Hawaii, who lost 3 road games by a combined 190-37. The Huskers
are 5-10 on the road in the 3 seasons prior to this one (not counting bowl
games, which would make 6-11).
This game will answer two big remaining questions about this team, IMHO.
a) Can they get up to play with the same energy on the road in a hostile
environment?
b) How will they rebound from a heartbreaking loss and get ready to play a
"lesser" team?
Baylor has to be sky-high after winning their first-ever conference road
game today, and at 4-1, (sound familiar), they need two wins to be bowl-eligible
for the first time in how long??????
I would expect the Bears and their fans to be as up for this game as we will
see anyone this year. If their stadium isn't full then shame on them and
lucky for us.
That said, Nebraska should still win this game, safe or not. I'm feeling
better by the week about OU and the rest of the schedule, except for the trip
to Boulder. CU dismantled A&M today, in case anybody missed it. Don't be
misled by the final score, it was 41-6 before the boofaloes gave up a couple of
charity TDs in the 4th quarter.
GO BIG RED !!!!
