All,

I was at the game in Boulder on Friday, and the Huskers looked really good. We had what looked like 15-20% of the crowd in red, and there was a record crowd of close to 55,000 at the game.

I was about as far from the student section as you can get, but I didn't have any problems with the Buff fans that I encountered. I did overhear a few wise remarks, but it wasn't any worse than the other 7 or so NU-CU games that I've attended in Boulder. Maybe I'm getting used to it. I witnessed no incidents of vandalism or harassment this year, unlike previous years.

At the end of the game, the NU crowd was chanting "Cory! Cory!" when Ross came over to acknowledge the fans. I hadn't seen anything like that since 1997 in Seattle, when they were all shouting "Scott Frost! Scott Frost!" when the qb came over to salute the fans after the Huskers pounded the #2 Huskies on their home turf. Made me feel good to be a Husker fan.

Locally, the media has been pretty hard on the Buff student fans, and on the school for allowing the situation occur. The Boulder Camera was really pretty harsh on Saturday. Mostly, its a feeling of embarrassment and frustration expressed by the print and electronic media here.

CU has had a lot of black eyes recently (financial irregularities, Ward Churchill, sex scandals, alcohol related student deaths, rioting, etc etc), so most of us have become accustomed to outrageous news eminating from Boulder.
