Looks like none of the other attendees have chimed in, but the crowd
was never much of an issue from my corner of the stands. There were
sporadic bursts of debris from the two student sections that were
eventually halfway (not entirely) cleared, but it wasn't that much
more than the burst we got when Oklahoma scored the last touchdown
against us in Lincoln. I watched my recording of the broadcast when
I got home last night. You may notice during the long delay that the
CU cheerleaders were all still lined up against the front of the
stands right in front of the students. They had their heads (which
were mostly above the protective concrete) turned towards the field
and away from the kids throwing stuff from behind them, so they
weren't too bothered by the possibility of a wayward bottle falling
short.
That said, the officials did need to take the actions they took and
the tedious wait in a game that was already a blowout did seem to
deflate what little energy the crowd had rather than inflame their
frustrations (which could have been a possibility).
I saw no incidents outside the stadium as we left, though by that
time there was little black and gold remaining mixed in among the red.
Neither incident of fans running on the field (someone in a Burger
King costume in the first half and a guy who took off and waved his
shirt around in the second) resulted in chases. BK was helped into
the south stands where security showed up to collect him. The second
runner just followed the instructions when security personnel, who
never left the sidelines, pointed him towards the northeast gate
(where I could not see what followed after).
In all, Nebraska's 20 point run to close out the first half after
Crosby's long miss took the crowd out of it and they remained subdued
the rest of the game. The events in the student section caused
little commotion in the rest of the stadium that I could see. Any
other confrontations that occurred were isolated enough that I never
did witness any.
