During the 1991 NU-OU game, some yahoos began throwing oranges on the field,
in keeping with a long-standing NU "tradition". When it didn't stop, TO
called the ref over to borrow his field microphone; he announced to the
crowd that he had instructed the officials to penalize the Huskers if any
more oranges were thrown. End of problem. My guess is that the miscreants at
the game today were not smart enough (and certainly not sober enough) to
heed any such warning, but it would have been worth a try.
