While it is much too early to draw many conclusions about NU's 2006 recruiting class, one thing is quite clear. Next season, the Huskers will return eight wide receivers who have (by my count) played at least some this year. Of those, five are no more than six feet tall, two are six-two, and one (walk-on Todd Peterson) is six-four. NU has one commitment for 2006 from a WR, Menelik Holt, who is reportedly six-three. According to Scout.com, NU has offers out to ten additional WR recruits. Five of them are six-four, one is six-three, two are six-two, one is six-one, and one is five-eleven. To be sure, these measurements must be taken with a grain of salt, but they do indicate that the coaches are attempting to "upgrade" (vertically, anyway) the receiver corps.
