I think current or past KSU assistants will make up the majority of the
short list, unless they decide to go after a big name. (But if they do
that, I suspect those names will turn a whole lot more heads than the
ones that surfaced in Lincoln 2 years ago.)--Mike Nolan

Keeping in mind Scott Frost's comments regarding SP making all the
decisions by himself, without the aid and advice of a search committee--

"After the firing of these people, the search for a new coach began. It
was this process that left many of us confused and agitated, because it
was done solely and completely by one man. Most major programs, when they
hire a new coach, will put together a search committee. There are people
who are loyal to our program who would have been tremendous resources in
the selection process. I would have loved to have seen a committee made
up of gentlemen such as Tom Osborne, Charlie McBride, Monte Kiffin, Ahman
Green, Grant Wistrom, Mike Minter, Barry Alvarez, and Al Papik help
identify the best candidate to take over our program."

-- it's interesting to read in this am's Wichita Eagle the following
comment by KSU A.D. Weiser:

"Search committees don't get fired--ADs get fired, so we're not going to
have a search committee," Weiser said. "In the end, I'll make the
decision, but it won't be absent from those I consider to be much more
knowledgable about the culture and history of K-State football, like Bill
[Snyder] and Jon [Wefald, KSU president]."

Contrast that with the debacle at NU.
