That is not what I wrote. I think it is clear that
Taylor is the best QB right now at NU. NU has
struggled at times on offense, not all the fault of
the QB, and every possession has been important.
Saying that, I was asking when would there have been a
good time to pull Taylor just to get pt for someone
else? BC was trying to red shirt Beck, however, the
injury forced his hand and BC did what was best for
the team in that situation.

Again, I did not write that BC was trying to keep the
red shirt for any NFL mindset, nor did I write that
the offense would fall apart with Beck. What I wrote
is that our best chance right now is with Taylor. BC
wanted to red shirt Beck if possible, but if pushed
into a corner, he would play Beck.

So which is it? Do you think this should have been a
red shirt year for Beck or that he should have gotten
more pt this year?

Beck is a true freshman in a difficult offense. I
doubt that he was ready to play early in the year and
BC decided that it would be better to red shirt. I am
pretty sure that BC wants the best players on the
field, he is trying to win each game.

BC could have put Beck in a few games, although I
still have not heard which game or at what point of
those games would have been acceptable, he uses Beck's
Frosh and Soph year as a back-up, then spends his
Junior and Senior (if he doesn't leave for the NFL)as
the starter. Or, BC leaves the best available QB in
for the entire game, because every possession has been
valuable this year, has Beck ready in an emergency,
but saves this season as a red shirt so Beck can spend
next year as the #2, paying in as many games as
possible. Beck then has his Soph., Junior, and Senior
seasons to lead this offense.
I think it is clear that BC wanted to red shirt Beck
but was backed into a corner and went for the win with
the next best available QB. Was it worth burning a
red shirt? Hell yes. NU needed this win. For the
season, the bowl game, for the seniors, for BC's job.

I have questions about a lot of things BC has done in
the last two years. This one seems to be a no-brainer
to me.

"Not the victory but the action.
Not the goal but the game.
   In the deed the glory."
