So, Beck didn't come in to previous games because it would have slowed
the momentum of the NU offense? Hey, most of those games, there wasn't
any momentum to slow. Were there two games without a first down in the
entire first quarter?

I think it's clear that Callahan didn't play Beck because he was trying
to keep his redshirt and not because of any NFL mindset about the
starting QB nor concerns about the offense falling apart if Beck
played.

I come down on the side of those who think Callahan should have gotten
Beck some playing time earlier in the year and I think that if Callahan
felt that Beck gave NU a better chance to win a big game than Ganz then
he should have played Beck at the end against KSU.

If Taylor was that valuable, why couldn't NU move the ball? I mean
really, unless Beck is so bad that the turnover risk is huge, he could
have gotten the 3 and outs as well as Taylor.

I agree about the KSU game, but I think Beck should have played earlier
in the year. If Taylor is the starter next year, Beck has only one
year to get some limited experience before the offense falls to him
(unless someone who beats him out). If Beck starts next year, then he
has even no game experience. I think the experience would be more
valuable for Beck than the redshirt year. Isn't NU going to recruit
anyone else to play the 2009 season (let alone all of the seasons
before that)? Of course --- and hopefully we get the promising QB
recruit from the KC area. I thought the defense of Callahan despite
limited success thus far thus far was that he needed guys with
experience at the WCO, so why not get Beck some of that experience this
year?
