[Husker] A note on backup QB game experience

Based on what I have observed, such as Jammal Lord's senior season, when a
program is struggling to get their offense running well, a coach is very
hesitant to put in a backup QB. In this year's situation, BC has a QB who is
just coming around in terms of getting in sync with his receivers and shuffling
OL, and was also apparently way ahead of his backups.
To wonder aloud why BC waited so long to put in Beck appears out of touch with
where the program is in adapting to a new system. All the evidence says stay
with Taylor as long his eyes aren't dilated and he's walking unaided.
I don't intend to pick one side of the fence, but I can't help but notice how
cohesive the players are in such a tumultuous time. IMO that is a hallmark of
good coaching. Look at skippy Neuheisel and other coaches who, when things
turned downward attacked their QBs in the media. I haven't heard anything out
of BC at press conferences this year except praise for his players' work ethic
and effort on the field--almost to the point of sounding patronizing.
Regardless of how SP has rewritten Nebraska's traditions, BC's effort and
ability to get players to gel has to be commended.
And a final note on BC, at the risk of being labeled as a supporter of all
things evil, I have to say that time also has to be given to those in the
coaching staff who came from the NFL to adjust to the NCAA.
