The season stats at huskers.com don't show any passing attempts by
any QBs other than Zac Taylor and Harrison Beck. (Ross had one as did
Todd Peterson, but they're not QBs.) There aren't any QBs other than
those two listed on the rushing stats, either. Maybe another QB came
in and handed off a couple of times late in a game, but I don't
specifically recall that having happened.

While your idea of giving the backup QB experience in the 2nd quarter is
a fine one, how many times in the last 15 years has there been a game
where the Nebraska backup QB went in for a single series in the 2nd quarter
unless the Huskers were already at least 4 TDs ahead or the starting QB
had to come out for an injury? None come to mind.

Except for schools that are alternating QBs (like Ohio State and Texas did,
the latter may well have missed out on a MNC season as a result), IT
JUST DOES NOT HAPPEN. Maybe it should, but it doesn't.
