You write that as if November 12th was circled on the calendar in
BC's office with a note "Burn Beck's redshirt today!".

Did he KNOW he was going to need Beck yesterday, or in any other game this
season? Obviously not.

Does that mean he shouldn't make him the #2 QB if that's what he's earned
during practice? I'm sure Beck knew that as the #2 QB he could go in on
a moment's notice, or not at all.

I think far too many coaches, college and NFL, keep their starting QB in
the game far too long. Some keep the starting QB in for the entire game,
even when the final result isn't in doubt. Brett Favre seldom comes out,
and IMHO he's starting to pay for all that extra wear and tear. (But as
a Bears fan, I'm not all that unhappy with how the Packers are playing
this year.)

BC does it too. I thought TO and FS kept their starting QBs in too much, too,
archives of the Husker List would show this as a recurring theme. I suppose
if I went back to review 1971 I'd probably think Devaney had Tagge on the
field too much that year, too.

Didn't Terry Bradshaw's backup earn a couple of super bowl rings without
ever taking a single snap in a regular season or playoff game?

This is one time I am definitely in the "Get off BC's back" camp.
