I have no idea if the players support the coaches or not.  But you cannot 
assume that because the players say it,  that they all mean it.  If a player
did make some derogetory comments about the coaches, they would likely
never see the field again.

Freedom of speech only means the government cannot punish you for
critical speech.  Your employer,  school, etc certainly can.
