[Husker] The Husker Nation...

Season tickets were still being sold as late as August this year. I wonder
how close we came this year and if they were actually all sold. Two more
losses this year and the extra 6000 seats will be a tough sell. I love going
to games for the atmosphere and because I still love the Huskers. I'm a
little farther away than you but try to get to a game each year.

I had never stopped listening to or watching a game on TV until last year -
about the time of the ISU game. I did yesterday as well. If I lived in
Lincoln I would be hard pressed to go and watch a display like yesterday
each weekend.

Nebraska fans are great and a classy bunch overall. Alot of them feel a
little kicked in the gut after the last couple years and will be reluctant
to support a losing program that is lead by an AD that doesn't care what
they think.

Want to return the program to greatness and really kick the donations in
gear? How about reminding Mr. Osborne that Nebraska already has a pretty
good Governor from his same party and opening up an AD or Chancellor spot.

most of the posts over the last few weeks because largely they contain the
same boring content - a mix of:
>
> - SP is the devil.
> - Callahan is an idot.
> - Cosgrove is an idiot.
> - Solich is a still a genius who got a raw deal.
>
> - Etc, etc, etc. - bla bla bla.
>
> The storyline that does intrigue me is the doom and gloom over the sell
out streak and the perception that support for the program is somehow waning
amongst the Husker Nation.
>
> I only know what I see with my eyes, and that makes it hard for me to
beleive this is true.
>
> Why?
>
> Well, I stood on the field at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco, TX a couple of
weeks back and looked up at a crowd of 44,000 that was probably 40% Husker
fans.
>
> Then yesterday from the photo deck atop Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, KS
yesterday and looked down at a Memorial Stadium record crowd of 51,750 and
saw at least 35-40% Husker fans there as well.
>
> Doesn't that type of road support show that support for the Huskers is
still strong?
>
> Even with the strong possibility that the Huskers will get blown out at
USC next season, how many people do you think make the trip to see the
Huskers play in the Coliseum? My bet is quite a few...myself included.
>
> Will the sell out streak end? Maybe? But if it does it is likely to end
because so many fans, including a large majority of the ones on this list,
would rather figure out a way to watch or listen to the game for free (then
sit and pontificate ad naseum on Internet forums) than actually leave the
house and go to the game!!!!
>
> Seriously...how many people here on the list that are SOOOO worried that
the sell out streak is going to end have attended a game at Memorial Stadium
in the last 5 years? How about a road game in the last 10? My bet would be
the number is quite low compared to the overall number of members on the
list. Living out of state isn't a great excuse either...heck I live in
Minneapolis and managed to make it to 2 games in Lincoln and the Baylor and
KU games.
>
> Since the team is obviously so horrible and there will be so many cheap
tickets available for the KSU game I encourage those of you who haven't
recently to head down to Memorial Stadium on Saturday for a reminder of what
a college football game day...and the atmosphere is like. Who knows, you
might like it so much regardless of the outcome of the game that you might
apply for a seat in one of those 6,000 new seats and help us to continue the
sell out streak.
>
> I have to make the 450 mile trek back to Minneapolis...I hope you all have
a great day.
