I heard the interview,  he said they practiced against every play
they were burned with. 

The 72 yard run was a perfect call against the blitz package NU ran. 
NU D linemen were shooting the gaps.  THat is a high risk/high reward
stagegy.  You can make big plays,  but you can also give them up.

However, KU seriously out-coached NU D.  The playcalling for the KU O
matched up perfectly against the plays NU was running on D.  Did KU guess
right ? Did they get lucky ?  Did they predeict what NU was going to do
or make the adjustment at the line ?  I do not know.
