Gary, I couldn't tell if the sun rose in Minneapolis this morning...it is too foggy (Maybe it is just my state of mind after yesterday).

Do they take questions from the floor at their 'tailgate party?' If so, with an empty mouth, might you be able to ask a question for members of the List?

Subject: [Husker] Next Week

Good Morning All:

I'm happy to report that the sun has risen right on schedule here in Omaha this morning, but it sure is cold out there and my guess is it's even colder in Lincoln.

Next week we host the Kansas State Wildcats to close out our home schedule for 2005, before each game (every season) the Chancellor hosts a private tailgate party for group of donors. Once again this year I will be in attendance and it should be pretty interesting to see how the spin machine is going to work the group this year. Chancellor Perlman, AD Steve Pederson and others from the athletic and academic sides of the University will be there and each will get up and make some remarks. The food at these events is excellent, this year however I think I'm going to make certain that I have nothing in my mouth when our AD speaks as the list might be short one member next Sunday if I don't.

Seriously though it is really going to be interesting to hear what these two (Perlman & Pederson) have to say about this season. What a disappointment it has been considering we started off 4-0. I knew we would not go undefeated but I certainly didn't expect to get to this point in the season losing 4 of our last 5 games, losing two straight home games and have a 36 year winning streak over Kansas broken in such embarrassing fashion.

In what has to be the understatement of the year on my part we need a win badly next week in Lincoln, NU has not lost three straight games at home since 1961. That season was the last for Bill Jennings and we went 3-6-1 overall (1-4-1 at home), winning only one home game (over North Dakota).

Another winter of discontent will not sit well with Husker fans, and donors in particular.

PS - I can't wait for basketball to start tomorrow night in Lincoln. NU hosts UN-Omaha to kickoff the preseason For those of you out of towners who will be in Lincoln for the football game next Saturday stick around Saturday night in Lincoln, NU hosts Holy Family University (from Pennsylvania) at 7:00 PM. Grab a bite to eat after the football game and then head over the Devaney Center and take in the basketball game.
