Well, I thought it had the side benefit of setting the bar for "We're
improving" pretty low for this year. Yes, NU seems to be improving
this year, but NU should have beaten ISU and CU last year at 7-4. I
was almost convinced last year that the coaches didn't want to beat CU
so that they wouldn't have to coach that team for a bowl game and could
instead focus on recruiting.
