You know, the same referee (Usechek) that Callahan made the throat slash gesture to (and signaled a first down for Oklahoma in the 2000 KSU-Nebraska game) was also on hand for one of the worst non-calls I've ever seen. Wasn't the missed face mask call on Crouch that same KSU-Neb game in 2000? Anyone remember the photos of Crouch's helmet completely turned the opposite direction with a KSU defender's hand grabbing the face mask? I can't believe Crouch wasn't injured on that play. If I recall correctly, that play was at the very end of the game, and that was in fact the same game Usechek thought he was actually officiating an OU game.
 
On a side note, the ref from the '93 Orange Bowl (loss to FSU after a TON of questionable calls) used to live around here in upstate NY around the time of that game. Anyway, I don't remember seeing him at any games after that game, and he popped up in an Arena2 league game a couple years ago. Maybe he was banished? I'm pretty sure he never worked a big college game after that fiasco in the Orange Bowl.
