I can give you that Derek but we really do have to wait to see
how the recruiting class pans out. A perfect example of this is OU. They
had a top five recruiting class three years ago but a lot of them either
didn't pan out, left the team or were injured and couldn't compete
anymore. Thusly, that's why OU is on a down year this season.
Another aspect you can put on this is also recruiting for your
needs. When we had Solich and Osborne, we were running the option which
some say was never a great recruiting tool since most of the recruits
look at what the pros run and they want to run that and have a chance to
move on. Some may say exactly, that's why we needed to scrap the option.
I have a hard time believing that. Especially when only about one or two
percent of college athletes ever make it to the pros. What the Huskers
did during the Osborne era was recruit with an emphasis of getting
players that had room to grow and get better. They did that and did that
well. Hell only a couple of schools were after Trev Alberts and we know
how good he became.

And NU's strongest recruiting year in a decade--if not ever--came the
year after
Solich was fired. One must grudgingly attribute this to Steve Peterson
for
hiring Callahan and, perhaps more importantly, Blake.

Exactly!
And NU's weak recruiting year came the year after Dr. Tom stepped down.
That was Solich's fault?
