As long as it is perceived to have contributed to a diminishment of
the NU football program, Pederson's firing of Solich will be a topic
of vigorous discussion. This is especially true so long as he is the
AD and probably will continue to be discussed less vigorously even
after he is gone and the fallout and impact on the future is far less
visible than it is today. The purpose of such discussions is not to
change them, as you suggest, but to understand the historical basis
for current and future events. After all, as observers we have little
else to do with these past, present, and future events but to discuss
them. Railing against this discussion is even more futile than the
discussion itself.

I have been to two recent games --- Creighton and OU last night. As
another poster wrote, they are so much better than most of their
opponents that the matches aren't even a contest. NU has 8 or 9
players that are better than all or all but a few of the players on
the opposing team. NU has players that hardly play (e.g., Mancuso)
that could start for virtually every team that NU plays. Every match
it is a different star from NU's deep team. For example, last night
Houghtelling had the most kills. Elmer didn't have very many kills,
but had six blocks. Stalls had a strong game, with seven blocks, and
Saleaumua was solid as usual. And, of course, Pavan does it all, so
much that nothing stands out: seven kills, four aces, 11 digs, three
blocks, and even two assists. It was not very exciting.

Actually, they are playing in the conference tournament and beat KU 3-1.
They play Texas A&M on Friday.
