[Husker] Callahan

There's was also blatant holding on Jay Moore and Titus Adams on that
play. WOWT showed a replay and all you could see was jersey's being
pulled at. From what I understand, we've had these same officials on two
other games and some of their calls were very suspect. If I were
Callahan I would tell the Big XII never to send that team to Lincoln and
also have them try as hard as hell not to have them officiate any NU
game. I still can't believe that the team leading the nation in sacks
has only one holding penalty called all year. Makes you wonder how many
more sacks we would have if they would start calling the holds!

After I read this post last night I watched the play that caused
Callahan's
outburst. Grixby was not the only one held. Ruud appears to be pulled
down
by the front of his jersey while turning away from his blocker and
McKeon
looks like his blocker is holding on to his arm at the same time.
These guys
were right next to each other about 5 yards upfield from Grixby.
There should have been 3 holding calls on that play, not one. This has
been
a trend against the blackshirts and nobody is calling it. This
particular
play didn't necessarily cost NU the game, but it's just kind of an
explanation
point on the problem. Frankly, if I was Callahan I probably would have
made
a worse gesture than that. He should have reached up and removed the
ref's
glasses, wiped them off, and handed them back, IMHO.
I hope the University includes the end-zone view of the three holding
fouls
happening simultaneously in their response to the NCAA. Callahan had
every
right to be upset, and it looked to me like the ref lost his composure
and was
kind of up in Coach's face earlier in the event. Not the appropriate
demeanor for an official.
Any lip-readers out there who can watch the replay and tell us what was
said
in that exchange?
(Of course, if they would quit spotting decent teams 21 points, then
those
kinds of plays late in the game wouldn't matter as much.)
I sure hope we beat Kansas, last time we didn't I was 10 months old : )
