[Husker] Some somments

While I agree it does not matter who recruits them, I think it matters the scheme they are recruited into and to some extent the coaches they are going to play for. I think last years defense was a good exmple. You work better for a boss that you like and possibly hired you, you feel a sense of loyalty to him, even if the job and money is the same, until you get comfortable with the new boss. Sometimes, you never mesh with the new boss, and no matter how skilled you are, moving on is the only solution.

I should also add that it really makes noe difference who recruited them, the
line is not playing great right now, and Nebraska fans are used to great
offensive lines.

I posted that original comment because I'm sick of people comparing Callahan to
Solich, so I thought I would get a little dig in on the person who made yet
another veiled comparison before I responded. Tiring, isn't it?

The 1998 team was roughly 20% Solich recruited and coached (assuming a
red shirt year for each player)
1999 - 40%
2000 - 60%
2001 - 80%
2002 - 100%
2003 - 100%
None of those teams had as many problems giving pass protection or
rushing the ball as the current Husker team (and only one failed to win
9+ games).

This does NOT mean that the current problems show Calahan to be a worse
coach than Solich. Calahan may turn out to be a great coach and there
are several other possible explanations for the team's current
problems. But blaming Solich makes no sense and I find the persistence
of the myth that Solich couldn't recruit quite frustrating (especially
given the analysis - posted by someone else - that basically refuted
that charge). Can't we support whichever coach is our favorite without
tearing down the other one?
