is NOT just 5 games against Hawaii Hilo with a Boyd's World
RPI of #247. It's also the following games

1 New Mexico - #205
4 South Dakota State - #262
3 Northern Colorado - #191
3 Seton Hall - #199
1 Western Illinois - #248
2 North Dakota State - #286
1 Northern Iowa - #156
2 Northern Illinois - #222

Which totals 22 games against teams with very poor RPI
rankings. That's more than a third of the season. This is
part of the problem for Northern teams if they want to play
a reasonable number of games at home. Nebraska is
surrounded by weak out of conference teams.

As far as the SEC is concerned 11 out of 12 teams finished
with 30 or more wins against Division 1A opponents. KSU
only got 29 wins against 1A opponents. In fact, all 4
northern division teams in the Big 12 played a lot of very
weak out of conference opponents. The competition that the
SEC plays out of conference is a big reason why they are
looked upon more favorably.

Now I do think that the RPI's are skewed to the south and
south east, but until something like Boyd's World's ISR is
used that won't change much.
