Given that ASU had Jake Plummer and challenged for the national title that  
year (Close loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl) I'm not sure that was much of  
an upset, given that we had a new QB, gave up 3 safeties, and had our best  
blitzer (Terrell Farley) suspended.
 
It did come to my mind as well when I first read the question though :  )
