[Husker] Sittler

Why is it when someone on the list or in the press decides to lambaste
Callahan they get a bunch of garbage from some of the same people who
used to lambaste Solich and complain about being taken to task for said
lambasting? It seems that anyone who defends Frank Solich and how the
program was under him gets bashed but we're told to give Callahan the
benefit of the doubt. I wish someone would tell me why some consider
Callahan almost a saint.
Now concerning the article I still believe that Callahan doesn't get it.
Especially with the comment about the OU drill and how it was from his
favorite team. Heck, as Tom Shatel mentioned in this mornings Weird
Herald Callahan never even apologized for his comment. I find this to be
big time hypocrisy seeing as Pedersen tried to make Pelini apologize for
his comment to Bill Snyder but it seems that Pedersen doesn't require
the same thing from Callahan. I guess insulting a coach after the game
is worse then insulting the fan base of a team. This is going on while
Pedersen's trying to renew the OU-NU series starting in '06. I will say
that if we do get the series going again on a yearly basis '06 and '07
will be two hell of a seasons with us playing SoCal, OU and Tejas. Time
to buy stock in Pepto Bismal if this does occur because I'll probably
need it.

It is not irrelevant. I am not arguing the validity of the story
or Sittler's opinions. What I am saying is, even if he felt the way he
does, I seriously doubt he would have been motivated to write it had he
not lived in the state of Oklahoma. His motivation makes it relevant.
As Ben Matlock used to say, "it goes to motive your Honor." :-) Let's
put it another way. If the rift was between Nebraska and Kansas State,
for example, would Sittler have written the article? Who knows but I
doubt it. Since the team in question is OU and the fact Sittler lives
in Oklahoma makes where he lives very relevant.
- Perhaps Sittler moved to Oklahoma to be an ambassador between NU and
OU fans. Given his status, perhaps he is. If so, he is certainly doing a
better job at it than Bill Callahan at this point.
If you believe Sittler's motivation for moving to Oklahoma was to
be an ambassador then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I would seriously like
to talk to you about. ;-) I am not saying in what he writes he doesn't
try to maintain peace but I seriously doubt his motivation for moving
was because he wanted to be an ambassador to the state of Oklahoma.
- Where do you see it as hollow when he is is closer to the situation
than I am given I have (traitorously?) moved to Minnesota? He has a
unique perspective on it, and this is an opinion piece, not reporting.
(And I certainly didn't move to Minnesota because it's in
BigTenelevenland.)
Maybe he is closer to it. I'll give you that but he didn't gives
us any facts we don't already know. He just stated his opinion to which
he is entitled. It doesn't necessarily mean his opinion is correct.
And, any inside information he might have doesn't factor in here.

I have never learned anything when I was the one doing the talking.
